The Learning Centre: Policies

Appointments

Using our online booking system, you can reserve up to 2 hours of one-on-one tutoring appointments every week on a tutoring schedule.

Multiple daily sessions and back-to-back sessions are discouraged, as you need time to apply what you have learned before bringing forward additional questions.

If you find that you feel like you are needing more help, please ask to speak to a Learning Centre faculty member. They can offer strategies to help you best use your time with the tutors.

Note: Other limits may also be put in place during busy times of the semester or in certain subject areas.

Online Tutoring

You are encouraged to develop and improve your writing by submitting up to three drafts of the same paper to Online Tutors.

Cancellations

‚Äč
Tutors understand that students have to cancel appointments for many different reasons. If you do have to cancel, please do so with as much notice as possible, so that other students have the opportunity to book an appointment at that time. There are four ways to cancel an appointment:

  • Online at douglas.mywconline.com
  • In person at either the New Westminster or Coquitlam Learning Centre
  • By emailing learningcentre@douglascollege.ca
  • Over the phone: 604-527-5539 (New Westminster) or 604-777-6139 (Coquitlam). If no one answers, leave a voicemail message, and a tutor will cancel your appointment

If you miss two appointments without giving notice, your WCOnline account will be automatically disabled and you will not be able to schedule any new appointments until you meet with a Learning Centre Services Coordinator.

If you are more than 10 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled and counted as missed.
