Items are the "objects" to be featured in your exhibition.
To add items click the "Add an Item" button. You will see four tabs on the Add an Item page:
- Dublin Core
- This is where you enter important descriptive information (also known as "metadata") about your object, such as title, creator, and date.
- It is best to use guidelines so that your descriptions are consistent.
- See metadata guidelines for this assignment, available here: Metadata Guidelines
- Item Type Metadata
- Select the appropriate "item type" for your digital object.
- For example, if if its a digital image, select "Still Image" If it is a video, select "Moving Image"
- Files
- This is where you upload your digital object
- It might be an image of the item, but you can also upload video, audio, PDF documents, and more in many different file types.
- You can upload multiple files for the same object, such as different angles of a physical object or multiple scanned pages of an archival document
- Tags
- Tags are additional labels that you can apply to your items. They can be used for browsing and organizing your digital objects according to a specific topic, theme or subject matter.
- For the purposes of this project, always tag your item with your Group number and first and last name (ie., group5MeganToye). This will allow you to easily find your groups' items when building your exhibition. Use a consistent tag so the search retrieves all of your tagged items.
After entering all of the information, you can submit! You can click the Add Item button at any time to save your work--if you have a lot of information to add or you need to take a break, you should save. You can always go back and edit your item.
