ANTH 2240: Digital Archives (Yard)

Resources, tutorials and tips for completing your digital archive assignment

Planning your exhibit

Before building your digital exhibition, brainstorm and plan how your items will come together. Having a clear method and intention for your objects, the idea, event, or concept your objects will explore are all important aspects of curatorial research methods.

Your team should collectively consider:

Do you want to explore an idea, theme, or symbol?

Do you want to tell a story?

Do you want construct a new narrative or explore a different historical order?

Be intentional and thoughtful about the items you choose by considering the context of each item, the order (or disorder!) of display, the page layout you utilize, and any accompanying text you add.

The following Omeka Exhibit Planning Worksheet will help you to structure your ideas and plan your pages before working in the "Exhibition" section of your Omeka site.
