Citing government documents, reports, and other resources varies depending on which level of government, the country of origin, how the resource is accessed (online or in print), and what kind of information is provided in the resource. Sections 14.194 - 14. 197 in the Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed. should be consulted for further information and examples.
"The major reference work for citing Canadian public documents and legal cases in a Canadian context is the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation...Authors citing more than a few Canadian legal or public documents should consult [this or other] works"...for citing the occasional example in a US context, The Bluebook...provides some recommendations and examples" (Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed., 14.194).
