ASA (7th ed.) Citation Style Guide: Audiovisual Material

Audiovisual Materials

"Audiovisual recordings and other multimedia can be cited by including the following type of information: name of person primarily responsible for the content, title of the work (in quotation marks or italics as applicable), information about the work (e.g., date and location of the recording), information about the publisher (including date of publication), information about the format (LP, DVD, AVI), and any other information that might be relevant to the format" (American Sociological Association Style Guide, 7th ed. 2022: 94).

Audiovisual material follows two patterns for works that stand alone (e.g. films, TV series, podcasts, webinars, YouTube videos etc. ) and for audiovisual material that are part of a greater whole (e.g. TV or podcast episodes, songs from a music album).
