Off campus support: Transition houses (a safe place to go when you are not safe at home)

Monarch Place Transition House (New Westminster): Provides temporary shelter and support to female victims of domestic/sexual violence who need to leave their home immediately for safety reasons.


Tri- City Transitions Society 
(includes Joy’s Place Transition House): 
Provides support, counselling and referral services to victims and witnesses of sexual assault.  Joy’s Place provides temporary shelter and support to female victims of domestic/sexual violence who need to leave their home immediately for safety reasons.

Additional community supports and resources

Vancouver and Lower Mainland Multicultural Family Support Services Society: Provides free, confidential, culturally sensitive, women-centered services to immigrant, refugee, and visible minority women, delivered by bi-lingual, bi-cultural workers.


MOSAIC: Provides free and confidential services which includes “stopping the violence” counselling, legal advocacy, multicultural victim services and support groups for immigrant, refugee and newcomer women.


Healing in Colour: Online resource that offers a directory of IBPOC therapists who are committed to values supporting IBPOC in all intersections.


Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre: Offers holistic trauma-response programming which includes support and counselling for Indigenous survivors of gendered and sexualized assault.


Here2Talk
: Mental health support for all students currently registered in a B.C. post-secondary institution. Free, confidential counseling and community referral services, conveniently available 24/7 via the app, phone, and web.

Love is Respect: Online resource for information on dating, healthy relationships, consent, and safety, inclusive of all those along the gender continuum (*note: this organization is American-based*)


Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA-BC)
: Information about Community-Based Victim Services, Stopping the Violence Counselling and Multicultural Outreach Programs in B.C., as well as information on safety planning and educational resources.


Qmunity: Provincial resource centre for people in the queer, transgender, and Two-Spirit community. Provides resource information, counselling, inclusive programs and peer support.


Trans Lifeline: Free and confidential 24/7 support phone service run by trans/nonbinary peer operators for trans and questioning peers. Website with many resources specific to intersecting identities.


British Columbia Society for Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse: Provincial non-profit society, established to provide therapeutic services and support for males who have experienced sexual abuse and/or domestic violence.

Off-campus support: Crisis support

Women Against Violence Against Women (WAVAW): Provides free and confidential services to all cis and transgender women, and people of all marginalized genders, including Two-Spirit, trans, and non-binary people who have experienced sexual violence. Services include counselling, support groups, victim services, Indigenous specific support services, a crisis line (available 24 hours a day 7 days a week), and hospital accompaniment.


Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS): Provides free and confidential services to women and girls who have experienced violence. Services include crisis support line (available 24 hours a day 7 days a week), counselling, support groups, victim services, legal advocacy and specialized support programs for Latina and Indigenous women.


VictimLinkBC: Confidential, multilingual phone service that provides information and referral services to all victims of crime and immediate crisis support (available 24 hours a day 7 days a week) to victims of family and sexual violence.

Connects individuals to community, social, health, justice and government resources, including victim services, transition houses, counselling, information on the justice system, safety planning, and more. *Provides service in up to 150 languages, including many North American Indigenous languages*


BC 2-1-1: Crisis line (available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) that specializes in providing information and referrals regarding community, government and social services in BC. User-friendly website has online directory to connect with of a variety of resources. *Provides service in over 150 languages*


Surrey Women’s Centre: Free and confidential services for women including counselling, crisis services and legal advocacy. Provides 24 hour crisis line and services to accompany folks to the hospital and to assist with making a police report.

Outreach service also provides transportation access to the Forensic Nurses Unit, at Fraser Health’s Surrey Memorial Hospital for immediate medical services.


Hope for Wellness Helpline: Provides free and confidential crisis and mental health counselling to all Indigenous peoples across Canada (available 24 hours a day 7 days a week). Service also includes an chat option to connect with a counsellor online.


KU-UUS Crisis Line Society: 
Culturally safe 24/7 Crisis Line support for Indigenous people anywhere in B.C. Chat and text support available from 6:00pm-7:00am.
