An overview of the various electronic resources available through the Library

Introduction

The Library provides access to a wide range of EBooks, Streaming Videos, and other web resources, such as government reports.

Most are fee-based and require authentication for off-campus access.

This guide provides detailed information about each of the different types of web resources, as well as further information about specific vendor protocols.

How to find Ebooks and Web Resources

To locate ebooks and web resources available through the Library, start at the Catalogue 


Select the ONLINE SOURCES from the drop down menu (keyword, subject, etc.)


Icons on the left hand side of each title will denote the specific type of web resource.

 

What kinds of Web resources are available?

  

          An electronic book purchased by the Library from a commercial vendor, such as Coutts or Ebrary. These may be permanent or subscription purchases. These ebooks are generally fee-based sources and require authentication by Douglas College students and employees when accessed off campus.

       A video available in streaming format. This category includes films purchased by the Library, films freely available on the web and films licensed under the National Film Board Campus Collection. 

        Usually a government report, document from a reputable web site or an open source/creative commons document . Audio Podcasts are also included in this category. These resources are generally available free of cost.
