AI is already common in many aspects of our lives, including algorithms used in social media, search engines (like Google), and virtual assistants (like Alexa and Siri). Have you received spelling or word choice suggestions as you type emails, used Google maps for directions, or asked Netflix to suggest a show to watch? That's AI, too. Other areas AI is utilized in includes voice and facial recognition, Google translate (and other translation tools), and programs that optimize traffic light timings.
Newer AI tools (like ChatGPT) are called "generative" AI, meaning they can create content (instead of analyzing it like more traditional types of AI). Generative AI tools can create text, images, audio, and video. Some examples of generative AI tools, include:
