Persistent Links & Permalinks

Links to streaming videos can be included on Blackboard course pages, in email messages, or Word documents; on PowerPoint slides and on web pages. A list of the streaming videos collections that we subscribe to is available on the Library web page under Books & Videos - Streaming Videos.

How to create links to streaming video services content

How to create a permalink:

  1. From the library homepage, conduct a search using OneSearch and select a streaming video.
  2. Click on the title of the streaming video.
  3. On the right side of the screen, under Tools, click on permalink.
  4. Copy the permalink.

 

How to use a permalink from off campus:

  1. After you click on the permalink, you will be taken to a new page.
  2. If you didn't login earlier, you will be asked to do it. All students and college employees are to choose Current Students & Employees - CNA Login option. If needed, see Access page for Troubleshooting Tips.
  3. After you logged in, you can start watching the video by clicking on Online Access on the left side of the screen.

 

How to create a permalink:

  1. Access the Academic Videos Online (AVON) collection. If you didn’t sign in earlier, you will be asked to login. All students and college employees are to choose Current Students & Employees - CNA Login option.
  2. Conduct a search and select a streaming video.
  3. Copy the URL as it appears in the address bar at the top of the browser.
  4. Paste this URL into a document to link directly to the streaming video.

 

How to use a permalink from off campus:

  1. After you click on the AVON permalink, you will be taken to the new page.
  2. If you didn't login earlier, you will be asked to do it. All students and college employees are to choose Current Students & Employees - CNA Login option. If needed, see Access page for Troubleshooting Tips.
  3. After you login, you can start watching the video.

How to create a permalink:

  1. Access the Audio Cine Films (ACF) collection. If you didn’t sign in earlier, you will be asked to login. All students and college employees are to choose Current Students & Employees - CNA Login option.
  2. Conduct a search and select a streaming video. Click on Watch.
  3. Copy the URL as it appears in the address bar at the top of the browser.
  4. Paste this URL into a document to link directly to the streaming video.

 

How to use a permalink from off campus:

  1. After you click on the ACF permalink, you will be taken to the new page.
  2. If you didn't login earlier, you will be asked to do it. Type Douglas College in the box under Find your institution and click on the Douglas College link.
  3. You will be offered the login page. All students and college employees are to choose Current Students & Employees - CNA Login option. If needed, see Access page for Troubleshooting Tips.
  4. After you login, you can start watching the video.

  4. Paste this URL into a document to link directly to the streaming video.

 

How to use a permalink from off campus:

  1. After you click on the Can-Core AV permalink, you will be taken to the new page.
  2. If you didn't login earlier, you will be asked to do it. Type Douglas College in the box under Find your institution and click on the Douglas College link.

  2. Select a streaming video and click on Connect to streaming video link.
  3. If you didn't login earlier, you will be asked to do it. On the new page click on Watch Now button below the video and click on Log In To Douglas button. All students and college employees are to choose Current Students & Employees - CNA Login option if it pops up.
  4. When your video is ready for watching, copy the URL as it appears in the address bar at the top of the browser.
  5. Paste this URL into a document to link directly to the streaming video.

 

How to use a permalink from off campus:

  1. After you click on the Kanopy permalink, you will be taken to the new page.
  2. If you didn't login earlier, you will be asked to do it. On the new page click on Watch Now button below the video and click on Log In To Douglas button. All students and college employees are to choose Current Students & Employees - CNA Login option if it pops up. If needed, see Access page for Troubleshooting Tips.
  3. After you login, you can start watching the video.

The National Film Board of Canada provides streaming access to a wide range of programs in their collection. Many titles are available to the public free of charge, but there is an additional collection of titles that are restricted under the Campus license. The Library has purchased an annual Campus license to make these programs available to students and employees of Douglas College.

A wide range of National Film Board titles have been made available through the Library Catalogue. The full collection is available on the National Film Board web site.

  2. If you didn't login earlier, you will be asked to do it. Type Douglas College in the box under Find your institution and click on the Douglas College link.

  5. Paste this URL into a document to link directly to the streaming video.
