About The Learning Centre

The Learning Centre is here to help you become a successful student in your courses. All services provided by the Learning Centre are free to Douglas College students.

In the Learning Centre, peer tutors work with you to improve your academic skills, writing skills and your understanding of course concepts. 

English Language tutors are also available to help multilingual students with English writing, listening, reading and speaking skills in your courses.

What can you get help with?

Available for all courses. Students can choose between real-time one-on-one sessions or can submit a draft for peer feedback.  
 
Students can learn study strategies and other academic success skills, including academic integrity and avoiding plagiarism.
 
Students can meet with tutors for course help from peer tutors in first-year courses such as Accounting, Business, Economics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math Upgrading, Computer Science, and Modern Languages.   Course content help is also available from writing tutors for English and other writing-intensive courses. 
 
Professional tutors are available to work with students on grammar and language improvement for Douglas courses.
